Fanart: “Tomb Slayer” by SangoXMiroku132
I just adore how casual Lara is about almost certain death.
Tomb A Day #23 - Unfinished Business, Level 4: The Hive
The opening of this level features another over-the-top boulder trap. I like Unfinished Business’ boulder traps because they’re actually navigation puzzles with solutions. Most of the boulder traps in the base games are just about moving out of the way before you get squished. Despite there being a safe and easy way to get through this one, sometimes I think it’s more fun to dash through it as fast as you can.
Remember my fear of Qualopec’s mummy guards coming to life? Well, Unfinished Business is packed with stationary mummies and warriors that do come to life. Sometimes, they even have items placed right in front of them. You never know what’s going to set them off, either!
Something I’ve always wondered about Unfinished Business: Why are the birthing pods yellow? The first time I played it, I thought my game was glitching.
Tomb A Day #24 - Unfinished Business, The End
I think every Tomb Raider game should end with Lara sliding down a ramp. :P
I haven’t yet played The Golden Mask or The Lost Artifact (Tomb Raider II and III’s expansions, respectively) but I’m pretty sure that Unfinished Business will always be my favorite Tomb Raider experience. That’s not just nostalgia talking, either, because I didn’t get a chance to play it until January 2013!
We have the statue of Bastet and Atlantis is no more, so it’s finally time for Tomb Raider II! Hide your butlers, because they will be locked in the freezer.
Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness Storyboard Artwork
Angel of Darkness has the most immersive, atmospheric level designs in any game I’ve ever played.
Tomb Raider II: The Golden Mask is a forgotten add-on to Tomb Raider II, which is a big shame because it’s a self-contained game that has new textures, new enemies, insanely difficult levels and one of the most breathtaking skies ever seen in the series.
Lara Croft comes across some scoop about the Golden Mask of Tornarsuk, apparently hidden deep below the surface of one of the islands in the Northern seas. Upon arrival, she encounters a gang of evildoers who came for the Mask just prior. They occupied an abandoned Russian military base, so Lara needs to survive not only boulders, snow leopards and the usual, but also that gang.
The design of the first two levels is spectacular. The rusty base looks absolutely amazing. It really feels like it’s been 50 years since people abandoned the place. After some hustle, Lara finds an old Innuit cave that leads her closer to the Mask.
